![]() Taking advantage of the chaos, hundreds of Jedi turn to the dark side and join the Sith. The war between the Republic and the Mandalorians has just ended. This era, like the entire history of this fictional galaxy, is rife with war and hardship. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic takes place nearly four thousand years before the events of the Skywalker Saga. A long time ago… Darth Malak is an epic villain It’s enough in this case, but that’s not always the best for video games. The story, though, is arguably the absolute highlight of the game. Getting to truly experience it for the first time after all these years was a joy in and of itself. Not only does it hold up, it remains one of the most captivating in all of Star Wars. With this ‘Legends’ game back in the conversation, the major standout is the story of KOTOR. So, KOTOR is indeed canon again, even if only partially. ![]() The Rise of Skywalker Visual Dictionary confirmed Revan as canon. A giant, albeit blurry, statue in the background of Exegol looked like Darth Nihilus, a villain from the KOTOR sequel. But in the darkest night (that night being The Rise of Skywalker), hope was rekindled. Nearly all hope was lost when Disney seemingly tossed decades of content into the trash. It takes an absolute potato to be incapable of running it.For years, fans of the galaxy far, far away have been begging for the story and lore established in KOTOR to become part of the larger canon. Like I said in my first post, I agree games these days are getting out of hand with system requirements however, SWTOR still isn't and won't be incredibly demanding. I was playing on a $200 touchscreen all-in-one and, while very low settings allowed me to play the game, it was only barely even then. Integrated graphics like what the OP probably has barely cut it when SWTOR released. even though PC gaming is nowhere nearly as big as consoles - which are actually just older PC tech repackaged You just need a dedicated GPU. I understand the merits of your point that developers want to keep up with the modern times as new PC hardware come out.īut you also don't need modern systems to play a game as ancient as Pong either. if the requirements now are too much, then it is time to upgrade. Swtor doesn't need much to run it even now. ![]() Prioritizing optimization for modern systems makes far more sense than trying to accommodate for incredibly outdated hardware. By this logic, you wouldn't need a PC to play it either. That defeats the whole idea of free-to-play. When the day comes that I can no longer play Star Wars: The Old Republic on account of the unnecessary changes being made to hardware requirements, that'll the day I will change my review of Star Wars: The Old Republic and warn people to avoid it. Granted, I could just go out and buy a new computer, but a free-to-play game isn't free-to-play if you have to buy anything in order to play it. Sadly, once the game is switched over from DirectX 9 to DirectX 12, I won't even be able to run the game on my computer which does not support DirectX 12 and can't be upgraded. and has kept me playing for over ten years. The simple fact that I could play Star Wars: The Old Republic on my computer without needing major hardware is what got me playing in the first place. So why does it need any hardware changes beyond that? ![]() It is quite literally the last good Star Wars content to be released before Disney intentionally obliterated the franchise. Star Wars: The Old Republic never needed bleeding-edge hardware to be good before, nor does it need it now.
